We Dance for Joy

I started dancing at The Joy of Dancing when I was 4 years old.  I grew up at the studio and started working the front desk when I was just 13.    When I was in high school I started working as a teaching assistant.  At 17 I taught my first class, Mini Motion, for 3-year-old’s.  By the time I was 20, I was teaching 20 classes a week and attending college.  During my senior year at SJSU, Miss Joy asked me to become her assistant director and train to take over the studio, so she could retire.  After I graduated with a degree in Child Development, I was honored to take the position.  In June 2007, Miss Joy retired (after 30 years of directing/owning the studio) and I stepped into my dream job, Director of The Joy of Dancing.

The studio has been apart of my life for more that 40 years.  I love that I can share my passion for dance and teach my students the joy that it has brought me.  Women that I danced with as children are now bringing their children in to dance at the studio.  The studio is more than just a place to dance for me.  I have made some of my very best friends here. I get great advice from moms and dads that have helped me become a better mom, teacher, and business owner.  The Joy of Dancing is my extended family and I wouldn’t change that for the world!

Thank you, Miss Joy, for trusting in me to carry on your legacy! We just celebrated 47 years of business and I am excited for what the future brings. I love my job, the studio, my family, and my JOD family.  I am joyful that I get to teach my dancers what The Joy of Dancing has taught me.  We dance for Joy!
